Abstract

Nowadays, premature greying of hair is a common cosmetic problem affecting young population. Healthy, good looking, black hairs makes person externally beautiful and enthusiastic. Palitya generally happens in old age and pittaja prakriti purush, but certain dietary habits, behavioural lifestyle and psychological causes influence premature greying of hair. Current management trends available are not satisfactory. Ayurveda can aid in managing palitya with shodhana and shaman therapies. Various Ayurvedic and modern lexicons, journals, internet are used for present study. This study reviews Ayurvedic and modern etiopathogenesis and management trends to propose ideal treatment for palitya.
